The movie The Sky is Pink tells a poignant story about love, loss and parenthood through the eyes of Niren and Aditi Chaudhary spanning across two decades of their lives between Delhi and London. From the start we all knew that the female protagonist Aisha Chaudhary will succumb to disease at a young age but how the family deals with it keeps you hooked to the movie. At the end, I returned with some tears, laughter and lessons, life lessons. The one thing that caught me was this dialogue:
“Tumhare sky ka colour koi aur nahi decide kar sakta”
This hit me really hard.Everyone has a different coloured sky!
This is a scene in the movie where Aisha’s elder brother Ishan is rebuked by his teacher for painting the sky pink. He narrated the incident to his mother Aditi who explained to him how her teacher is wrong and why we have the freedom to decide the colour of our sky. It’s our right to decide which colour our sky is as we all paint the sky of our lives with our own ambitions, stories, emotions and desires. How can someone else decide what our sky’s colour should be?
Basically it is a philosophy signifying that you can choose any colour to paint the sky with. It means that you are free to make your own choices in life and not let others decide what the colour of your sky should be.
Each one of us have different stories, struggles, beliefs, dreams and so we all have different opinions but that does not mean that you are wrong. It is not about others, it is about you, your dreams and your beliefs and you have to deal with it in your own way. It totally depends upon you to capture every sunshine or not to or to seize all the smiles or let all of it go.
So live your life on your own terms!
