The colour of our mind

Just imagine that you gave a flawless interview but didn't get the job because someone who was few shades lighter walked in or maybe you can't find a perfect match because of your skin.

This is how our society works now-a-days.
The colour of the skin defines the beauty and the worth. In Fact not just white and black but the shades between them as well- You are too black or not that black to fit in.

According to me this is not about the colour of skin but about the colour of mind, the colour of your mind, the colour of our mind.

Our obsession with fair skin is well known and deep rooted. Colour prejudice is widespread and practised openly across the country.
In our culture, all virtues are associated with "fair" while anything dark has negative connotations. TV programmes, movies, billboards, advertisements all reinforce the idea that fair is beautiful.
Infact advertisements industries are still promoting the idea that women with dark complexions should aspire to be fairer.

Many people face social pressure and the phenomena which caused this is Shadism and colorism. People feel insecure about their aspect and want to adapt to social ideals. Like that skin whitening app on Facebook, or went to buy the Fair and Lovely cream to make you whiter.
These things have been deliberately put in our minds through the ads, the apps and more importantly our society. Even in the newspapers, the ads for bride and groom, all state fair. Let’s not forget the matrimonial sites.

True beauty whose definition is hidden
The odium for that which is
natural.
It is the pigment which she is
hated for.
The excess of melamine which
she is blamed for.

Colorism a global entity,
which is more real than you
and me.
A source for animosity
greater than racism.
We have become colorists.

The black rose, the most prettiest
close to extinction
Due to the blossom of hate.
Victimized by the colour of skin
Rejected by those who are like us,
Not because of who we are but
the colour of midnight where the
stars shine.

I blame the unrealistic beauty.
The standard set for young girls
and boys.
The perfect hourglass figure
The toned muscles
And the fair skin with the right amount
of curves.
Stop this!

Do not pay heed to what anyone says Stand up for yourself and don’t
you drown in dismay. For dark is magic
Your skin is as wonderful as the
limitless dark depth of the universe

We are going to claim our identities back,
We are going to truly find peace
in ourselves.
So to all those who scratch their skin
and try to bleach it.
This revolution will be televised.

Feeling beautiful is loving your thoughts your mind and your soul listen not to those who tell you that you aren’t enough for you are a child of the dark cosmos you are more than enough

True beauty can never be defined
It is not in our pigment
But in our inner being.
Let the sophisticated wisdom go
viral.
Let's fight this together.
Let's make this world
free from colorism.
